Ditty of the day

and so he said…

Small bursts of wit, warmth, and lived experience… these pieces won’t be grand or polished, just honest moments worth passing on.

c’est la vie

“I move through each day with a body that changes like the weather.
MS is drawing new borders beneath my skin, rewriting strength in quiet ways.
My legs sometimes feel like distant rooms in a house I once lived in.
places I remember clearly, even when they no longer answer my call.

Yet I rise in a different way now… not on muscle but on motion.
not on a bone, but on the steady hum of the chair that carries me forward.
My powerchair becomes my legs, my balance, and my grounded rhythm.
a companion that refuses to let the world shrink around me.

People may see wheels before they see will.
But I know the truth that lives beneath the surface of each day.
This chair is not surrender… it’s momentum, autonomy,
a way of saying that my life still moves, still widens, still reaches.

I roll through narrow corridors, along uneven paths, and with shifting doubts.
feeling the quiet courage that grows when the body falters but the spirit holds.
My wheels become my legs, my way of meeting the world head-on.
my reminder that movement can take many shapes and still be mine.

New ‘Legs‘, Same Journey

It started with a whisper in the bone,
A shadow falling softly, all alone.
No trumpet blare, no warning in the night,
Just time and distance slipping out of sight.
A subtle drag, a hesitation there—
A limp that caught me unaware.

Then crutches came to bridge the space,
To lend their strength and steady the pace.
To catch the stumbles and ease the drops,
A pair of crutches holding up the frame,
Before the shifting world changed its name.

But MS moves in silence, slow and deep,
And steals the promises it lets you keep.
Until the day the legs fell cold and still,
No longer answering the rushing will,
No longer listening when I say “let’s go,”
Left stranded in the current undertow.

Yet out of loss, a new design took flight:
A metal steed to bring back morning light.
My powerchair—my motion and my grace,
That carries me to every time and place.
Not just a seat, but freedom certified:
My legs, my wings, my friend for life inside.
