Why Are We Trying to Wing It?

Imagine you’re standing in your garage with a classic V8 engine completely taken apart on the floor. There are hundreds of parts—pistons, valves, bolts—that all have to fit together perfectly. Would you honestly try to put that thing back together by just guessing? No way. You’d have the manual open on the workbench, because manuals are written by the actual experts who designed and built the engine. If you mess up one little piece, the whole thing is ruined.

Yet, when it comes to something way more complicated—our daily lives—billions of us try to just figure it out as we go. Why do we do that?

The “I Can Do It Myself” Trap

Because we manage to get out of bed, go to work, and pay our bills, we trick ourselves into thinking we’ve got it sussed. We treat life like a piece of DIY furniture. We toss the instructions aside because we’re too stubborn to admit we need help, and then we wonder why we feel totally lost or stressed out when things start falling apart. 😭

These days, almost everything comes with an operator’s manual – albeit in Chinese. If a car engine needs a guide, why do we think we can run our lives without one? The good news is we don’t have to. There’s actually a definitive manual for life—the Bible—and it was written by our Creator. The one who made us is the only one who truly knows how we are supposed to operate.

Trying to navigate life without the manual is like trying to restore a car engine with your eyes closed. Save yourself the headache. Open up the guide the Creator left for us, check the specs, and see how much smoother things run when you follow the original blueprint – you may be pleasantly surprised! 🙂
